Fantastic device. The connected features are spot on. WiFi, Bluetooth, Ant+ and iridium connections make this a phone killing outdoor device. I have been using it for a while now. Map updates are frequent and FREE. It does take a while to download after purchase so be patient. Outside this is awesome, it is able to route and display Openstreet maps with bird’s-eye satellite and topo maps. Really a great device for multiple uses.

I brought this for my Husband for Christmas and he loves it. The texting ability pin points you exactly so reassuring if you get into trouble.
Also cannot fault the service from outdoor GPS it really was excellent. They offer everything you need from pre sale advice to after sales. Don’t go to Garmin direct you will be very disappointed in all aspects.

Very pleased with my montana 700i.
I bought this unit to use on my touring bike after destroying 2 very expensive “waterproof” phones last year.
The montana is a BIG unit, a real handful. It’s reassuringly solid and all the ports have visible seals around them, not just the rubber flaps. It’s already survived several hours in rain and apart from the normal touch screen disco in the rain it worked very well. The Montana takes up a lot of space on the handle bars, if you’re using drop bars you may want to consider a ram mount to move it over the stem as it will occupy the entire top of one side.
Battery life is great, I’ve had 8 hours of runtime with 60% left in the battery. This is with a heart rate monitor and Bluetooth connected.
Power and charging wise it pulls 1.7amps when charging and running, if its fully charged it pulls 330mA (1.6w) on the map screen and 270mA on the compass or trip screen. Both of these are using the back light at max output for usb. Anything above these will slowly charge the unit. I had it connected to a cinq Plug5 plus dynamo charger for 3 days and only dipped bellow 100% while I was stopped for food.
It fully integrates into the Garmin connect system and if you log activities with a heart rate monitor they will appear in your Garmin training status automatically. You can link it with apps like Komoot for cycling specific navigation across multiple disciplines.
All in it makes a great cycle computer that leans more on the navigation side then any other unit I’ve used before.

The 700i is a great bit of kit and is used on my Adventure bike. After a small problem with the units charging on the cradle the service from the Outdoorshop was outstanding. 10/10 for customer service. Now all I have to do is to consider if I buy additional mounts for my other bikes!
