Does the inReach Mini2 display a Ordnance Survey British Grid Reference ?
Yes the new inReach Mini2 now has a much larger choice of position format settings with-in the unit including British Grid, when you then use the Mark Waypoint function your Ordnance Survey British Grid Reference will be displayed.
Also when on the Navigation pages you can also scroll down and view your current Grid Reference displayed on the screen.
Can I use Garmin’s Spine mount accessories with the inReach Mini 2 such as the backpack tether or swivel belt clip?
You can use Garmin Spine mount accessories with the inReach Mini 2 but you will need to order the Spine mount adaptor kit to use this type of accessory.

I really like my inReach mini, bought one just a couple of weeks ago now and I have synced it with my Fenix GPS watch and love it, it just gives me that bit of extra security when out on my own. Nice and easy to set up and the battery life is truly brilliant and it also looks great.

This has been a great device to provide that extra layer of safety when off grid, I do lots of winderness camping and bought it for the extra security this device would give me.
And if things go sideways at home, I’m reachable through my inReach via text. The battery life isn’t quite what I’d like (I’d got 2 days left on with bluetooth and without tracking), but I’m also not keen on being super available to everyone when off grid, so I started to just turn it off for most of the day. I only turn in on when I’m sending an “I’m ok” text, need backup navigation, or need tracking. I haven’t used the tracking features much on this because I have a fenix watch I use for this, so prefer to keep this battery for a real emergency. I figure if something happens, I can turn it on and then trigger SOS, though a friend mentioned that keeping tracking active might be a good idea if something happens to incapacitate me and I can’t trigger SOS – at least the lack of moving tracking points might tip off my family or friends.

Bought this for only one reason; the SOS function, a bit of reassurance when I have not got a mobile phone signal when walking on my own. Surely the other features this device offers are nice and I will use some of them.
Walking around my area the inreach mini shows movement, elevation, rate of travel speed and several other choices which might/could be useful. The small size and weight are very beneficial, especially with me carrying a 40-pound rucksack on a multiple day hike.
It appears as well built, very rugged, very water resistant, compact and lightweight.
My 5 rating might not be warranted but until I can find a reason to not rate it a 5 I will continue to rate it a 5.

Very good value and great service from Outdoor GPS for the Garmin Inreach Mini. It arrived quickly and the included set up instructions were useful. I’ve not used the Inreach Mini properly yet (haven’t been off grid in lockdown!) but the set up and activation were intuitive, and linking it to my phone and Fenix 6X watch was easy. I successfully tested the texting service. As for the capabilities of the Inreach Mini, they are reviewed well elsewhere. Very happy with my purchase, and Outdoor GPS easily deserve 5 stars.

Excellent lightweight device for additional security and communications in the hills. The service from OutdoorGPS Shop was first-class too and I really appreciated the personal touch and device setup guide (though a PDF link would have been just as good).
It’s early days so I haven’t used it in the field yet beyond experimentation and testing, but the interface is simple and easy to use and it acquired satellites quickly. The messaging interface does a decent job in making it possible to send detailed messages using only 3 keys. The subscription is quite pricey and I’m yet to figure out the right service plan for me, but it’s a cost I’m willing to pay for the extra flexibility and communication options over a PLB device. The only thing that’s confusing me a little so far is that I can’t seem to get it to send an SMS to my own mobile phone number (it works fine to others I add). This is something I’d like to use for testing and if I loaned the device to a family member. I’m not sure if this is because it is the phone that is registered/paired to the device or if it’s for some other reason.

Bought as a security measure as I walk solo a lot, and mobile signal varies, even in my local hills. I already have a Garmin GPS, so some features are superfluous for me, but the Mapshare feature is great. It gives my family peace of mind when I am away walking that they can just log in at home and see where I am from my online track and check-ins. Not cheap, especially with the required subscription, but hopefully a once-off purchase.
