Pair with Your Mobile Device

The free Garmin Explore mobile app lets you plan, review and sync data, including waypoints, routes, activities and collections. The app also lets you sync your GPSMAP 66i with your compatible mobile device so you can access unlimited maps, aerial imagery and U.S. NOAA charts. You can even use all of the inReach features on your paired mobile device. For easier messaging, you can access your phone’s contact list from the Garmin Explore app to connect with fewer keystrokes. Plan for future trips and review previous activities from the Garmin Explore website.

  1. 5 out of 5

    Steve Cadney

I used to have a Garmin GPSMAP66s and an inReach mini so it was great to see Garmin incorporate both devices into one, I wish I had known this before buying my mini! Anyway love the GPS MAP66i, first Garmin handheld I have had with a built in battery and really like this, to date it is performing very well. Loved my 66s and now the 66i, great piece of kit.

Great product! I know leave my mobile phone at home and be contactable but away from email, news, etc, the best of both worlds!

Great battery life. Accurate mapping. Great routing. Great integration with Explore app on my iPhone is great, it enables me to load routes I find on other apps.

    Very speedy and efficient

Outstanding service from start to finish. One of the best online shopping experiences I’ve ever had. They went the extra mile to get the device to me quickly and had already set it up for me, with a really useful ‘getting started’ guide that they’d written themselves. Outdoor GPS Shop is amazing. Other retailers could learn a lot here.

Arrived quickly. Your effort to help explain things and customise it was appreciated. Thank you.

What a great buy and a really competitive price … great bit of kit and I’m loving testing it and finding out about all the functions. The shop also offer training and support which would be great for someone who has no Garmin experience.

Much easier to use than my old Garmin Etrek.

Rugged and well-designed with intuitive controls. I do a lot of solo hillwalking on remote, pathless ground, where this will be a very useful tool. Very pleased with my purchase!

Viewing 1:25,000 maps is truly awful on this device. However, the rest of the functions are great. If you want to view nice clear and crisp maps gets something else (a smart phone displays them very well with the OS app). If you want a rugged accurate GPS with satellite communication and tracking then this ticks the box.

Excellent gps update from my 62s and it’s a step change. The team at outdoor gps were fantastic too. Price matched a competitor, very communicative and quick dispatch. Thank you.

Amazing product, I bought it to follow gps tracks and it works perfectly. I feel safe with the SOS active when I am up on the mountains

An excellent handheld GPS device. Both the device and Garmin’s BaseCamp software require a few hours of study to plan routes and navigate in remote regions. My device was purchased with the optional 1:25K OS mapping.

    Dominic C. (verified owner)

A very capable navigation device. I have had it a few weeks now and been out on walks and am very impressed. Not used the inReach features yet.

Excellent bit of kit. I I bought it with the 50K OS mapping installed. The GPS functions have been everything I had hoped they would be, easy to set up and easy to use: a massive improvement on my old eTrex10 that I found very temperamental. Loads of functions that I still need to get to grips with to see if they will ever be of use to me.

Already making use of the InReach satellite comms and the unlimited ‘check-in’ messages to keep base-camp aware of progress on solo outings. That works well and I’m happy to rely on this and stop carrying my old PLB.

So deciding to go for a single device to be the GPS and the PLB seems to be a success.
