Abigail (Abby)
Abigail is an adventurous spirit who grew up in the rugged wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, where her family ran an outdoor survival school. From an early age, she was taught to read the stars, follow animal tracks, and navigate by compass and map. Known for her boundless curiosity, Abigail has hiked some of the most challenging trails in the world, from the Appalachian Trail to the remote landscapes of Patagonia.
Abigail's expertise lies in outdoor navigation, survival skills, and her uncanny ability to find hidden gems in the wild—be it a breathtaking vista or a secluded campsite. She has a knack for storytelling and often weaves tales of her adventures into the podcast, bringing the magic of the outdoors to life. Her favourite piece of gear is a rugged, solar-powered GPS that’s been her trusty companion for years.
When she’s not out exploring, Abigail enjoys crafting handmade trail snacks and experimenting with minimalist packing techniques. Her infectious enthusiasm and practical advice make her the go-to resource for anyone looking to conquer their next outdoor adventure.
Ian
Ian was born in the Scottish Highlands, where the dramatic landscapes ignited his passion for the great outdoors. However, his family moved to the United States when he was just five years old, and he grew up exploring the forests and mountains of the Pacific Northwest alongside Abigail. This dual connection to Scotland and America shaped his love for both rugged landscapes and diverse outdoor cultures.
An experienced mountaineer and orienteering enthusiast, Ian has competed in and won several endurance races that test both physical strength and navigational prowess. He’s climbed peaks in the Alps, trekked through the Himalayas, and even led an Arctic expedition.
With a background in cartography and a deep love for technology, Ian specializes in blending traditional navigation techniques with cutting-edge tools. He’s the tech-savvy half of the team, often diving into the nitty-gritty of GPS devices, mapping software, and outdoor gadgets. Ian’s witty humor and down-to-earth personality keep the podcast engaging and relatable, even for beginners.
When he’s not adventuring, Ian enjoys tinkering with gear modifications and teaching wilderness navigation workshops. He’s also a proud advocate for Leave No Trace principles, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors just as much as he does.
